Here is the Preston story of the day:

Burke and I slept in on Saturday morning. (like 8:00) anyway Preston was up when we got up--I honestly don't have any idea what time he got up because I didn't hear him before this. There were a few things out of order-- a few toys scattered around and he had emptied a bucket of wet wipes (luckily it was almost empty anyway) but overall there was not too much damage. Pinedale had their annual big western celebration of the year so we were planning to go to a big pancake breakfast in town and the parade. On our way out the door I picked up my wallet (sitting on the counter where I had left it) and I peeked in to check and see how much cash I had on hand. My wallet was almost empty-- my visa and my temple recommend were all I had in there--the rest of my cards, my drivers license, coins, cash, etc were MIA. I just stared for a minute trying to realize what this might mean when Preston came around the corner. I glanced at him and said, "Do you know what happened to Mommy's wallet?" to which he replied, "Oh, I throw your monies in the garbage!!" A look of complete innocence and that wonderful smile of his punctuated his response. So I went dumpster diving through the very yucky garbage and found my things . . .

AdVeNtUrEs In PaReNtInG . . .

I love to be a Mom. It is the hardest thing I have ever done (or am doing?!) Someday I know I will think all of this is funny . . . until then I will let it humor you!

Excuse the fuzziness in the photo. Something is seriously wrong with my camera.

I have to learn that I cannot turn my back on this mischievous little guy for even a moment-- this was a few days ago when Preston pulled a kitchen chair to the counter, climbed up to the cupboard and retrieved the peanut butter. He unscrewed the lid and dug in. Hmmm. Okay I did that when I was a little tot too-- only I was in a highchair. Strapped in. Someone handed me the jar. And I loved every last drop. So I guess maybe I deserved this one-- it was pretty cute. And I still have to agree with him-- there are few things in the world as yummy as plain old peanut butter.
This one is sweeter than anything I ever dreamed possible. So too cute!!

A few stories about the photos in the post below: We enjoyed a long weekend with Burke this week and went to the park after running some errands. The kids had a great time hanging out with their Dad. I loved every minute of it too.

My sister Brit and her baby Anilyn brought us a festive 4th of July hairbow to celebrate the holiday. It was so fun to see our families for the 4th.

Preston is getting quite good with the mascara applicator (this just happened to be the day after he dumped my eye makeup remover all over the bathroom floor so good thing I had some tear free baby shampoo to get it off of him!!)

Preston fell asleep in the windowsill of his room after destroying his room while he was having "quiet time". He is pretty goofy sometimes!

Happy Father's Day!!

We had a fun Father's Day here at home. I am grateful for our wonderful Dads and for Burke who is a great Dad.

She's growing!!!

Little Rebekah is now 3.5 months old! She is growing so well and is more beautiful every day:) She is really starting to interact with us more and Preston has finally decided we should keep her. They are starting to be very cute friends. I am so grateful!!

Moving

Most of you know we are moving (again!) this time to Grand Junction, CO. We are hoping to be down there by the end of the month or so. So I have the lovely job of selling the house. Last time we sold a house Preston was a little baby (3 months or so) the house stayed spotless for a week until it sold and we took the sign down. Now Preston is Mr. Mess-Up (2 years later) and I have a 3 month old baby who likes to nurse every two hours. To make it more interesting we are doing a FSBO (For Sale By Owner). I am telling you I have never worked so hard to keep my house clean, and have it still look like such a mess all the time!! How can I redirect all of this ambition and energy?! Aren't we supposed to be a team?!

Yes that is a "Butter" sandwich. I promise I only turned my back long enough to change Rebekah's diaper :) He also is wearing a total of 4 shirts in this picture which he produced from the laundry basket.
These carefully placed piles of towels are folded by little Preston. "I do such great job!" he said with that little sideways grin. All I could say is "you sure do!!"

Preston is so proud of the new steps that he helped Daddy build.

Preston

Okay, so Burke pointed out (accurately) that I was favoring Rebekah on this Blog a bit so this post is dedicated to my favorite little boy in the whole world. The photos are all from the last 6 months or so!

My Preston,

I never knew how much I would love to be a mother-- and even when I am frustrated beyond belief, I am so thankful for the opportunity that is mine to spend each day with you. It is so fun to watch you grow, I love to hear you call me Mom, and I smile at your excitement over simple things. I am filled with joy and absolute delight when you look in my eyes and give me one of your million dollar smiles. You melt my heart with your mischievous laugh, and your thirst for knowing how, why, and what. You inspire me each day to work a little harder, to love you a little more deeply, and to pray that I will be the kind of Mother you need me to be. I love you little buddy! Thanks for believing in me.

Love,
Mom
