I am sad today. Changes in Burke's job have made our plan to go home to Idaho for Christmas impossible. Up to today I have been still holding out hope that we could find a way to do it, but the reality of the situation is finally sinking in and I am realizing that as the Mother in the home, my attitude will make a marked difference in how my family remembers this particular holiday. So even though I have a heavy heart, I want to create an atmosphere of joy and peace and love and family fun--but I'm not sure how to do it--so please share with me your ideas of what fun traditions you have that make your holiday memorable and fun! Here's hoping you all have a wonderful holiday!!

Here's a few of ours
1. We put hay in a manger every time we see someone do something nice and then if it is full on Christmas eve we put baby Jesus in it to sleep
2. I wrap up a bunch of Christmas books(the same ones each year) and then we open and read one every night. I try to add one or two each year so that eventually we will have 25 for each day until Christmas.
3. We do an advent calendar that has a treat in it each day and a reminder from the advent elf to Remember Jesus ...It will say remember Jesus by singing or Remember Jesus by loving others ect..
SO there is just a few of ours.
We've had our first ALONE Christmas last year and it can be really special. Just make sure to plan lots of activities so you don't feel lonely
don't forget the poptarts!!
thats really the only tradition i can think of.
oh and wrestling my dad out of bed christmas morning!
we will miss you! Do you get to come at all any time soon. we will want to ship your presents if not!
Sorry to hear you can't make it home. Sometimes that happens - don't let it get you down. Take this opportunity to spend that extra special time with Burke and your kiddos!
One idea that I'm trying this year is making Santa some cookies on Christmas eve and then some reindeer food for the reindeer out of some kind of chex mix or granola. Hopefully that will keep us (and my kids) busy enough on Christmas Eve to get us through the day!
I am so sorry you don't get to go home, that would be really hard. Our Christmas traditions are opening pajamas on Christmas Eve, making cookies Christmas Eve during the day, and eating a big turket dinner on Christmas Day. Nothing to great or fancy but it is still fun and will keep you busy. I hope you find a way to have Merry Christmas!
Sorry you aren't making it home this year. Just think...it will be nice to have this special Christmas in your new home. We are trying to find our own traditions too, since we are staying here for the 24th and 25th. So good luck and enjoy making new memories!
Looking good... I just got your invite, send me your email address (to bnh.hughes@gmail.com) so we can add you to our blog. Enjoy the snow for us, we won't be seeing any for quite some time. Bob and Haley
